Samjhota ‘bomber’ was an Indian: eyewitness

FAISALABAD: An eyewitness to Samjhota Express tragedy, Rana Shaukat, has said that a suspect behind blasts aboard Samjhota Express was an Indian.

Rana Shaukat Ali said he had pointed out the suspect who showed a ticket and it was confirmed he was an Indian with no travel documents to go to Pakistan. The suspect was Indian and from his conversation it seemed that he belonged to Bihar State of India, Shaukat said. A security guard had advised him to get down from the train when it slows as the train was bound for Pakistan, he said. Agencies add: Meanwhile, Communication Minister Shamim Siddiqui said the government is fully alive to its obligations and is making best efforts to protect life and property of Pakistanis inside as well as outside the country. While condoling with Rana Shaukat Ali, who lost his five children in the tragedy, here late on Sunday, he said efforts were afoot to bring back the bodies of all the Pakistani deceased.
