MAKKAH, 16 August 2007 — There aren’t many places one can accidentally
drop a wad of cash and expect to recover it later. But when a Saudi man
accidentally left SR9,000 in a taxi, he later discovered that basic
human decency still exists in the big, mean world. The daily Al-Madinah
reported yesterday that the man reported the loss to local police with
the strong expectation that there was little chance that it would do
any good. He was wrong. The police later received a call from a taxi
driver who said he found the money in the back of his cab. The man was
happily reunited with his money. Thanking the cabbie, the Saudi man
insisted that the driver accept an SR2,000 honesty tip.
