What began as protests after a speeding truck ran over and killed four young boys, walking in the Muslim religious procession of Shab-e-baarat, soon turned into a mob frenzy. By mid afternoon, over 20 trucks, some police vehicles and two leather factories were burnt to the ground. In the violence and the anger that engulfed whatever came in its path many innocents lost everything they had. Kalimuddin's had big dreams to expand his leather business, today his future seems to be buried in a charred building. ''I am reduced to begging there is nothing left. Why was I targeted, I had nothing to do with this,'' said Kalimuddin, businessman. Anwar lost his 20 year old son, he was killed in the cross firing between the police and the mob. The young man, his family says had simply stepped out to see what was happening. ''What can I say, maybe it was the administration, but what can I say,'' said Anwar, Victim's father. Curfew has been imposed practically all over the city and advisory was put out to tourists to stay away from the Taj Town. The losses amount up to almost crores many blame the administration for what happened ''Whoever is responsible for this from the administration will be brought to book,'' said Vikram Singh, DIG, UP Police.
