Maj. Gen. V.K. Singh (Retd) said, "I stick by whatever I have written in my book. It is a fact that a lot of harm was caused to the country by giving out a RAW tape to Pakistan New Delhi, Sept. 21: The CBI on Friday raided the home of a former RAW official, Maj. Gen. V.K. Singh (Retd), after registering an FIR against him under the Official Secrets Act. Maj. Gen. Singh, who is the author of the book India’s External Intelligence: Secrets of RAW, has been charged under Section 5 of the act "for wrongful communication of information". Speaking to this newspaper, Maj. Gen. V.K. Singh (Retd) said, "I stick by whatever I have written in my book. It is a fact that a lot of harm was caused to the country by giving out a RAW tape to Pakistan. I have only highlighted systemic faults within RAW and have not named any individuals," he said. The CBI team that raided Maj. Gen. Singh’s Palam Vihar residence confiscated his passport besides his personal computer, files and diaries. "I was taken by surprise since it has been three months since the book was released. They should have acted then," he said. Maj. Gen. Singh said that immediately after the release of his book, another book written by B. Raman, former head of counter-terrorism at RAW, was released which was written on "similar lines". CBI sources said the case was registered against Maj. Gen. Singh (Retd), a former joint secretary in the external intelligence agency, on the advice of the Cabinet Secretariat, the public face of RAW, which has also been seeking legal advice on banning his book. http://www.deccan.com/Nation/NationalNews.asp?#CBI%20raids%20ex-RAW%20official
